My second release as a digital single in 2021, I wrote this song around the same time writing "Mo' Better". Dave Brubeck is one of my favorite Jazz artists; I've always been drawn to his approach to rhythmic styles on the piano. I had Brubeck in heavy rotation on my spin list while simultaneously delving into LoFi Jazz Hip Hop grooves. The combination of the two worlds collided within me and "A Love Culture" was born. Inspired by Brubeck's piano rhythms and blending it with a Hip Hop groove was my foundation to writing this tune.
I should also mention that the title "A Love Culture" is a tip-of-the-hat to one of my other favorite Jazz artists, John Coltrane – pulling from "A Love Supreme". If you're gonna steal, steal from the best.
Lyrically the song is about being in love and lust from a distance. Seeing her for only a moment in time and never meeting her – she put a spell on me. I hope you enjoy!
